Hey Shingle People!!
Here it is, the first installment of the Passion to Profit podcast series.
In this episode, I speak with fellow lawyer and friend, Ebise Bayisa, the creator of the skin care and home goods business, Maré Naturals.
Ebise created Maré Naturals (maré means honey), after she brought back a batch of Ethiopian beeswax from a local farmer and began experimenting with recipes. Soon, word of Maré’s creations spread and Ebise decided to start her skin care and home goods business.
And important component of Maré Naturals is that Ebise has brought recognition to the robust honey farming industry in Ethiopia. Ebise takes great pride in the fact that her business here in the U.S. creates jobs for honey farmers in Ethiopia.
“I want to be an ambassador for all of the good that’s going on in Ethiopia . . . and one of the things that brings me enormous pride is having ‘Made with Ethiopian Beeswax’ on my label.”
Ebise and I cover a variety of topics, including, how she got started, business plans, knowing the numbers, bringing attention to the honey industry in Ethiopia, the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) and the next steps for her business.
You can find Maré Naturals’ goodies on Etsy, visit the website here and check them out on Facebook.
